About me

Dominique grew up in Zonhoven, a village in the flamish part of Belgium. Her mother, having been an amateur dancer herself, inscribed her in a local amateur school for ballet. On the day Dominique turned nine, she took her first ballet class. Many would follow...

At the age of 18 she moved to Holland for a professional contemporary dance education. Since than, Dominique has been dancing with several dance companies and participated in many projects.

Recently Dominique lives in Basel, Switzerland. She works as a freelance dancer and occasionally teaches and choreographs in Switzerland and abroad. In 2007 she co-founded the Profitraining Basel in collaboration with the Tanzbüro Basel, which she presides since 2009.

As a dancer Dominique is interested in a broad range of styles and loves to be challenged. Therefor she doesn‘t fear to cross dancing borders into theater/acting, aerial dance or street performances/theater. In dance creations as well as in life, she values collaboration and communication and likes to fully involve herself.

In the last few years she has been increasingly active in the field of dance education. She regularly carries out school projects with the dance-moves-kids program of Tanzbüro Basel, with d’Schwyz tanzt, Echt Stark! and the educational program of the Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps. In 2014 she founded her association Nanu Productions and has since organized her own dance education projects (including Andersartig, a project with dance and aerial acrobatics and fortissimo, a project week with dance and sign language, both for primary classes).

For the Basel dance company Tabea Martin, she has been conducting mediation workshops for school classes since 2019, including the piece “Forever”.

Dominique is also working in the field of project organization, personnel support and PR / media. She works as a dance and yoga teacher iand has two daughters.
